Kathy has worked in English Language Teaching (ELT) in both small and large organisations as a teacher, teacher trainer, language courseware designer, and test developer. She has headed up teams working on EU and UK Government/MOD multi-language projects in the UK, Brussels, and Paris and worked in France, Poland, Greece, and Iraqi Kurdistan, where she became the first woman to learn to load an oil truck. She devised the current Erasmus English language entry test and has worked extensively on high-stakes language test development for the European Commission.
She is passionate about metacognition and is keen to help learners of all ages and levels optimise their learning and stay motivated. With this aim in mind, she has designed and created a complete ‘Learning to Learn’ course to support learners in developing a toolkit of ready-to-deploy learning strategies.
Although her background in is the Arts, she is currently reading for her Masters in Applied Neuroscience at King’s College London. In her spare time, she’s renovating an old farmhouse in South West France and learning the sort of French you can’t find in any textbook.Back to Academics
