Student Life

At Roehampton we believe in the power of education to transform lives and communities. We understand that going to university can be a life-changing experience.

We pride ourselves on the guarantee we make to all of our students: high levels of contact time with excellent teachers working at the cutting edge of their subject areas. We will support you, whatever their background, to reach your full potential and to become the kind of graduate employers value.

We recognise that it is the combination of your time spent inside and outside of the classroom that makes a great university experience. As a result, we work closely with our students to offer a broad range of facilities, activities and events to ensure you have a fantastic time while you are here.

The University of Roehampton has its roots in the traditions of its 4 Colleges: Digby Stuart, Froebel, Southlands and Whitelands. All 4 Colleges were formed in the 1800s and are the focal point for the University’s vibrant social and sports scenes.

Our library contains more than 350,000 books, artefacts and audio-visual materials, with access to a further 300,000 eBooks. Combined with open access PCs and study spaces, you can choose to spend your personal study time wherever suits you best.

For many students, going to university can mean living away from home for the first time. Our Accommodation Services can help you find the right accommodation during your studies with us, whether you would like to stay on-campus in our halls or you would prefer to stay off-campus. With more than 60 different student clubs and societies, there is plenty going on at Roehampton. These societies are a great way to meet new people and cover a wide range of interests, beliefs and activities so there is something for everyone. The Students’ Union are always on hand to help you set up a new group if you think there’s something missing too!

Through our innovative Student Partnership, we will give you a say in how the University is run, helping us adapt and change. We also provide a wide range of opportunities for you to get involved, through volunteering, playing sport, or joining one of our many active student societies. This is also your chance to learn key employability skills, all whilst having lots of fun of course.

Our parkland campus is just 30 minutes away from central London, the largest city in the EU. A truly global city, London is home to many of Europe’s top international companies and is a centre for many different industries.

Home to a wide range of nationalities and cultures, there are over 300 languages spoken daily in London. A truly diverse and vibrant place to live, there are regular cultural events and festivals held in the city, with food from around the globe found in London’s plentiful restaurants, cafes and pubs.

There is always something new to experience in London, whether it’s the latest restaurant pop-up, an innovative exhibition, a sporting event or a new addition to the city’s iconic skyline; the city always has something for you to do.
