Entry Requirements

At the University of Roehampton, we accept a range of international qualifications for entry to our programmes.

For Chinese students joining one of our pathway programmes, we accept the qualifications in the table below.

International Foundation Programme Completion of Senior Secondary School Year 3 with 60% average.  Completion of Senior Secondary School Year 2 with 70% average. Gao Kao Certificate not required. 3 term programme: IELTS 4.5 (with no single element below 4.0) from a UKVI Approved centre

2 term programme: IELTS 5.0 (with no single element below 4.5) from a UKVI Approved centre

International Year One (Business) Senior Middle 2 with a minimum grade average of 80% or Senior Middle school 3 with a minimum average of 70% or higher IELTS 5.5 (with no single band below 5.5)

Scholarships are available, and will be issued on a case-by-case basis, based on your academic performance, work experience, English level and motivation for study.

Chinatown, located in the heart of London’s Soho is home to a wide variety of Chinese shops and restaurants. London’s Chinatown provides a taste of China to London’s Chinese community as well as residents and tourists alike. Chinatown is located on Gerrard Street, near Piccadilly Circus and Leicester Square underground stations.

Here is where you can find a range of Chinese restaurants and supermarkets, including:


  • Four Seasons – known for Hong Kong-style Cantonese roast duck and their specials menu
  • Barshu – spicy Sichuan specialities (on nearby Frith Street)
  • Feng Wei Shi Tang – authentic Sichuan food

Travelling in London

Travelling to the Campus

London is well connected to the rest of the world with several international airports. The biggest airports are London Gatwick and London Heathrow.

From London Heathrow: approx. 60 mins

  • From London Heathrow, follow signs for the Underground
  • Take a Piccadilly line train, eastbound to Hammersmith station
  • At Hammersmith station, walk approximately 4 minutes to Hammersmith Bus Station
  • Get the number 72 bus
  • Alight at the University of Roehampton Main Entrance (12 stops)

From London Gatwick: approx. 60 mins

  • From London Gatwick, follow signs for the Train station
  • Take a train to Clapham Junction
  • Take a train from Clapham Junction to Barnes
  • At Barnes, you can either walk to the campus (20 mins) or take the 72 or 265 bus
